20 Years Ago on AOL.com: Apr. 29, 1999 -- Airline Directory, Phantom Menace Countdown, and NATO Attacks... Bulgaria?

April 29, 1999: We started the day with the Airline Directory in the top spot, which the promo helpfully explains is a direct link to airline websites so you can hunt for bargains. We also featured free classifieds listings and free (after rebate) software:

For the PM update, we once again went with Star Wars: Episode 1. The My News headlines reference the ongoing war in Yugoslavia (remember the time that NATO accidentally fired a missile at Bulgaria?) and the Columbine investigation:

[Series note: In the late 1990s, I programmed the content for the AOL.com home page, which relaunched with a new design on July 14, 1998. I printed screencaps and saved them. 20 years later, I'm scanning them in and posting them with a little commentary under the tag #20YearsAgoOnAOLcom.]
